Herman Dune releases new album on Vinyl and CD through BB*Island

Some good things just need their time. We at BB*ISLAND have been following the music of Herman Dune since almost 20 Years. Now, we are extremely happy to preparing the release of the new Herman Dune album “Notes From Vinegar Hill” (Vinyl and CD can be pre-ordered here).

Back then the band from Paris popped up with their debut, seen as a European contribution of the so called Anti-Folk scene. This label Anti-Folk hasn’t been always helpful to describe the big variety of sounds and ideas that emerged from those artists labeled as such. Anyway, this is now and who cares of the marketing phrases of yesterday. Since then Herman Dune lived the rich live of an active band of idiosyncratic character, with many ups and downs and changes. Herman Dune remained (one of) the moniker for founding member, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, visual artist David-Ivar.

David-Ivar Herman Dune and Santa Cruz Records' own spokesperson, Inspecteur Morrison the Cat.

David-Ivar’s twenty-year career has been marked by record releases; touring the world with the likes of Arcade Fire, Of Montreal, Kimya Dawson, Wanda Jackson and Sleater-Kinney; showing at Art Basel and the Milan Trienniale; double-digit Peel Sessions and high-profile festival appearances; a comic strip and limited-edition toys; film soundtracking; and even producing and curating his own festival in Paris. In 2015 he settled in San Pedro with his partner, Mayon, and launched his own imprint, Santa Cruz Records, home to both his own music as well as multiple film soundtracks.

Triggered by a lucky coincidence we’ve teamed up with Santa Cruz Records due to release the album through BB*Island. Release dates are set for November 6th (digital , CD) and a bit later , due to the current long lead times with manufacturing, on December 17th the vinyl. Besides the classic black vinyl version, we have a limited edition of 300 copies on “translucent cat eyes yellow” vinyl.
