INFO
Coming Soon is a French indieband. Their career started when the youngest band member was only 15 years old. Kimya Dawson of Moldy Peaches have met them in Annecy and have picked 2 of their songs (recorded under the moniker Antsy Pants) for the original soundtrack of Jason Reitman's movie JUNO. The same year, 2008, Coming Soon released their debut album, 'New Grids', in France to much acclaim.
The next year, the famous French singer Etienne Daho covered one of their tracks, for a young upcoming French band that's really something..
.
Since then, Coming Soon's sound has been in perpetual mutation, from the voodoo folk of their debut or the laid back garage indie rock of 'Ghost Train Tragedy' (2009 kitchen/BB*Island), to the more ambient and electronica oriented Dark Spring (2012), the soundtrack of a theatre play.
After two intense years of creation and composition, Coming Soon made quite an impression in their homeland with their move towards dance orientated indie pop by covering Rihannaís Diamonds and releasing 'Dissapear Here', a new EP (october 2013) on vinyl.
2014, Coming Soon followed up with "Tiger Meets Lion", a new album produced by Scott Colburn (Animal Collective, Prince Rama, Arcade Fire). This swarming record fulfilled the avant-pop pledge of their last EP, bringing everything a little further out there, with ten tracks to explore as a psychedelic jungle.
Furthermore the members were busy with their own side and solo projects, lately most promising the french electropop duet of Coming Soon's youngest member: The Pirouettes, Léo Beer Creek together with his girlfriend Vickie
While in their earlier days they've been labeled as a French anti-folk collective, and Americana garage rock, critics now appreciate their new happy post-rock with its obvious French Touch. This combines playfully retro with modernism and uses a broad variety of sounds and effects. It has a love for remarkable melodies and imaginative atmospheres with forward pushing danceable lush beats. Above all they retain their strong character as a band.
Imagine a bunch of European youngsters on an American roadmovie riding a Citroen DS, flying in with a Concorde, departing on a Yacht, on a routing that could be Monaco - Paris - New York - Montreal - Detroit - Cancun - Los Angeles -Tahiti. And on the way some good readings will interfere with frenzy disco dancing on a motel bed or at a beach bar.
