Beloved indie rocker Barbara Manning, who got her start in the mid '80s with Chico, Calif.-based janglers 28th Day before going on to fame with World of Pooh and the S.F. Seals, released a 3CD box entitled Super Scissors (Rainfall Records/BB*ISLAND).  IUt comprises remastered versions of her out-of-print 1988 solo album Lately I Keep Scissors and her 1991 rarities/singles collection One Perfect Green Blanket plus 24 other songs-recordings that are previously unreleased, cover versions of various New Zealand bands from the Flying Nun label, outtakes and home demos.

The material hails from the mid '80s through the early '90s and are packaged in mini-LP sleeves all housed in a hardshell box.

A thick booklet containing rare photos and liner notes contributed by her friend Steve Wynn as well as members of the Verlaines, the Bats and the Clean rounds out the collection.

Over the years Manning has played with Yo La Tengo, Giant Sand, Pavement, Calexico, the Replacements, Richie Havens, Donovan, Television Personalities, Stuart Moxham (Young Marble Giants), Jon Langford (Mekons), Faust, Urge Overkill, Gary Lucas (Captain Beefheart), and Sonic Youth. New Zealand's the Clean, the Tall Dwarfs, the Verlaines and the 3D's collaborated with her as bandmates while recording and touring behind 1999's "In New Zealand" album.

 No less than Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore once proclaimed her "one of San Francisco's finest poets," while HARP magazine just calls her "America's unheralded sweetheart."
