She Keeps Bees
She Keeps Bees is a duo from Brooklyn, NY, consisting of singer guitarist Jessica Larrabee and drummer/producer Andy LaPlant. They have self-recorded and released music made at home since 2006. Their debut album, Minisink Hotel, was described by NYC’s Other Music as “the best album you’ve never heard." Nests, their second full-length, was admired by the Guardian as “sparse, soulful and defiantly retro.” Their third LP, Dig On, was praised by the BBC as "an album of fire, spirit, and sweat."
Their most recent and fourth album, Eight Houses, released in late 2014 through BB*Island and produced by Nicolas Vernhes (Wye Oak, Deerhunter, The War On Drugs, Dirty Projectors) was highly praised internationally 'Hitherto visceral New York duo discover and deploy the power of subtlety.. In all, a fiery triumph' (Mojo Magazine).
The band is currently working for a follow-up, probably due in 2018. In summer 2017 She Keeps Bees, who "has never shied away from engaging directly, unrelentingly, with the darkest sides of politics and social justice" (NPR Music took a stance with the new single "Our Bodies"/"Head Of Steak"
